So I hit up the Wiz show in the city last night and was pleasantly surprised. It was only 10 bucks so it wasnt bad at all. Curren$y made an appearance along with Ninjasonik and others. Ninjasonik was WILD to say the least, they jumped in and had everyone jumping into/surfing the crowd throwing water around, they really set a hype atmostphere and had everyone (in the front at least) going. It was so wild I actually had to move to the back lol. Anyway this was my first time seeing Wiz, I was a little dissipointed at how long it took him to come out and how short of a time he stayed up there, but over all hes a good performer, did one of my fav songs of his (thrill of it) and was worth the 10 bucks. Would see again.

Overall, it was an AWESOME night. will do again.

CEO of Xerox corp Ursula M. Burns came to my school to speak to the business students and I know it sounds cliche but it was inspiring. To know that a black WOMAN from the projects in NYC came from nothing to turn around a company and become CEO really makes know there is no excuse to not succeed. This is why I feel like people who say it's because they are a minority they cant get a good job or people that are always blaming the system for them not being successful is all just an excuse.
Do something with yourselves please, I know this is just one story but do some research and you will find many more.

Being a minority born in America you automatically have the most amount of opportunity in the world, I hate to see people waste it.

There has been a lot of speculation about the Blueprint 3. Some say its going to fail, some say its going to be his best album yet. In my opinion it has the potential to be a culture changing event. The collaborations on the album speak for themselves. Jay z is looking to relate to the younger generation via artists that are in the game right now. After the D.O.A track (Death of Autotune) many people and artists felt like Jay-z directly insulted them and wasnt relevant anymore. Now seeing the track listing with people such as Mr. Hudson, Drake, J. Cole, and Kid Cudi its clear that this album will bring the old school and new school together. Not only does Jay-Z collab with new and up and coming artists but he also has recognizable artists such as Kanye West, Alicia Keys, Riahanna, Young Jeezy, Pharrel and Swizz Beats. Personally I believe that if there was anyone that could could bring the old school and new school together seamlessly, its Jiggaman. While the collabs are a big deal by themselves, the two songs that have been released have shook the world of Hip-Hop. First was D.O.A, Jay-z just wanted to get a clear point across: everyone is using autotune and no one is being original this is not what Hip-Hop is suppose to be. It created the perfect album buzz, even though there were many tough critics, theres no such thing as bad press. Next up was "Run this Town" featuring Riahanna and Kanye West, two of the biggest names in the industry right now; powerful lyrics, powerful beat, powerful people. Jay-z knows how to create a buzz by releasing songs and videos one by one and creating an air of mystery around the Blueprint 3. This album is highly anticipated with a release date of September 11, 2009 exactly 8 years after the first Blueprint album. Get yours as soon as possible.

Listening to people no one has heard of just because you LIKE their music. The era of the mixtapes is back...just digital. The little random shows in small places also contributes. I have no problem with the radio not playing my artists...keeps the exclusivity. Now they all just need to find a way to make money off of not going mainstream lol

So I decided to do a social experiment via Twitter. Me and Mike had a convo about how you can tell a lot about a person from their ringtone. Most of it was about what type of music they listen to (go figure) but there are also other factors and that is what my experiment was about. Im only making a generalization about them based on their ringtone.

*Disclaimer: This is just for fun and I have exaggerated these profiles a little but Im sure we all know people like this lol

Suspect: Hypebeast
Ringtone: Some artist that big on the internets.
What it says: They wear Nike SB, bight colors, sag pants, and are up on the brands that go along with that culture (Hundreds,Surpreme,Gshock Watches,Nike SB,OG Jordans,AnythingKanye...).They would do anything to "break necks" and never miss an opportunity to show off their sneakers. They would do ANYTHING to get their hands on their grails. They also think Jay-Z should shut his Old behind up (blasphemy smh)

Suspect: The cute girl.
Her ringtone: Ether (or any hardcore rap music)
What it says: Shes not that innocent. She probably also has in depth knowledge of Hip Hop and listens to things that would surprise you. Expect this girl to be different and a little crazy.

Ringtone: Beyonce, Rhinna, any ne Pop or R&B
What it says: She probably listens to the TOP 40 hits and doesnt mind tuning into the radio. Her knowledge of hip hop doesnt run to deep but she could care less.Her ringtone blasts loudly in inappropriate places and annoys people because they have heard the song a million times.

What it says: If your from up north, its probably a novelty ringtone and you get drunk in the club and sing it at the top of your lungs. If you are from the south you probably wear 5X tees and dickey shorts and get drunk in the club and sing it at the top of your lungs. If your are a female from the south, you probably have tattoos on your arms/thighs/neck and get drunk in the club and sing it at the top of your lungs.

Ringtone: Some underground artist that no ones ever heard of.
What it says: This person is always trying to be different and not go with the flow. They probably dont listen to the radio because they think its corrupted by mainstream garbage. They get mad when favorite rappers go mainstream and "forget where they came from". They are probably also outcasts and have few friends.

What it says: This person is extremely out of date. They probably had the ringtone since the song came out. They are probably more occupied by school and or work and possibly dont watch much TV either. (they can also fit into the OTHER cute girl profile)

What it says: Old school hip hop head. They HATE new music, tight pants, and bright colors. They believe the glory days where the 90s and most likely get pissed hearing to Drake on the radio. They believe that there is no lyrical content in todays "hip hop" and are tired of hearing rappers talk about their feelings. Their slogan is "it will never be the same". They also wouldnt call it hip hop.

Honestly I can see the complete change right now and I aint Mcdonalds but I'm loving it. No I'm not talking about all the one hit songs that play over and over on the radio but I'm talking about the artists that put out numerous mixtapes on the net for their fans and the way stuff is changing. Social networking such as twitter and blogs make it easier artists to communicate with their fans and let them know whats going on. With all the new music being released daily its a hip hop heads delight. These artists arent just people that we cant see or get to know, the internet has made their live accessible to their fans which i think is fantastic. For example I see Charles Hamilton talking to himself on twitter, I see Whiz Kalifa smokin an L on his live stream, I see Joe Budden twittering and video blogging everyday, this stuff just makes us feel like we know them. Music has become so much more personal, which i like, Drake has always wrote his feelings down, or rather type them in his blackberry, and I can relate to almost every song he puts out. I guess the theme of thsi post is how personal music has become and i think its for the better. I will probably revise this blog later because I dont feel like i have made myself clear lol.

Recent convo with Mike. Real talk, Drake is the next big thing, and he is honestly one of my favorite rappers and if you know me you know its hard for me to say that about anyone besides Jigga, Nas, & Styles. Drake is humble and seems like your average everyday person and thats what makes his appeal so much more interesting than other rappers. His persona reminds me of a Nas but less hardcore and mad at life lol if that make sense, mix that with a lil Jay maybe (makes sense in my mind dont know how else to put it). I suggest people listen to his older stuff and I always tell people that when the mention him. Its crazy that his older stuff was so much better than So far Gone yet people love him off this MIXTAPE. Thousands of downloads on the first day, its a freaking MIXTAPE. He hasnt even dropped an album and no one really even knows where he is signed to lol. On top of all that, hes fine.

Admit it, the big time rappers like 50, Jay-Z, blah blah had to be the cool popular guys in high school, not exactly high school but you know what I mean. The girls wanted them because they were "hustlers" they were the bad boys and everyone wanted to be like them, even to this day. Think about it if they were all in high school together they would be at the popular table. But for 2009 it seems like this trend is changing, just look at the new artists we have out there they arent your average murderer, drug dealer, women chasing guys. They are the outcasts, skinny guys that no one ever wanted anything to do with. With artists like Drake, Asher Roth, Charles Hamilton, B.O.B, Kid Cudi, Mickey Factz and others these guys would be the losers of high school. THink about it, can't you see Charles Hamilton being pushed around by the jocks and people would either love him or hate him just because he was so different and like stupid stuff, Kid Cudi would be the typical stoner guy that only chills with other stoners and maybe chilled with Asher, Drake would be the mellow guy that kept to himself but was still cool, Asher Roth would be the white guy that other white people loved but the black people probably wouldnt because his freestyles were wack, B.O.B would be the weird guy no one really understood, Mickey Factz would be the guy that seemed more stuck up, all in all Hip-Hop is changing vastly and you better get ready for it now. I personally like all the artists that I mentioned and I know for a fact that the losers and outcasts in high school WILL be getting play lol Congratulations ladies. Yea it took my a while to get to this but i just had too. Props to Mike for letting me steal his CD :) But anyway, I'm not gonna lie, I didnt like the idea of an album that uses autotune on all tracks from Kanye but once i got past the sound of it, i actually liked it. If anyone is going through a breakup or something similar, this album should remain in your CD playing, most played playlist on your ipod or wherever. This concert was good and I got more than i expected. Although I saw N.E.R.D in NY this summer it was wayyyy better this time because I was up close and Pharrell was singing to me lol :)Common is an excellent performer and i was expecting it. He was doing some break dancing to the point where he got a nose bleed on stage and still kept going, even spit the ill freestyle at the end. The opening act was Chester French.He was energetic, funny, and a good opening act.

Best day of my year, well there was another one but now it isnt relevent. All i can say is Kanye is a true performer and worked for his money. I havent been to other concerts but I believe that there is no one quite like him. Lupes performence was ILLL, i loved every second of it. Paris, Tokoyo had it on smash! Its like people like getting on my nerves with this topic. All i hear all day on every radio station is lil wayne. Sex and the city...every girls dream. The penthouse in New York, the outragous clothes, the shoes to die for! Well it isnt a shocker that we all cant live Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Mirandas lives, but its ok to dream. I went to see this tonight with my bestfriend and let me tell you, ive never been in a place with so much estrogen! One movie theater was so packed with overdressed women and white benzs we had to leave.

But on to the movie. It was epic! i loved every moment of it and i tried not to cry on more than one occasion. its just something about living in NYC with your closest friends, trust me, my group of girlfriends could relate to almost everything that the girls in SATC go/went thru even tho we are we are only about to be out of our teens. Me and my friend had lots of little glances at each other during the movie and laughing because we knew exactly what each other was thinking.

Its been a couple months since i decided i needed a blog. I decided i wouldnt create one until i had the perfect name. I had about 20 perfect names but blogspot is littered with people who create pages and dont use it SMH.
